As I begin my day I ask you Jesus to open the eyes of my heart that I may see you in all your glory..

“While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my one dear Son, in whom I take great delight. Listen to him!” (Matthew 17:5)

In this amazing story of the transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain, it says about Jesus, “ He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.” (v.2).  It also says that Moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus and were talking to Him. (v.3). Moses and Elijah represented the Ten Commandments, the Law, prophecy, and all the traditions and teachings of the Jewish faith.  But then a cloud overshadowed them all, (v.5), Moses and Elijah were hidden by the cloud, and all the disciples could see was Jesus shining in His glory.  And God spoke to them saying, “This is my Son, listen to Him!” (v.5)

God overshadowed the images of Moses and Elijah, two great patriarchs of their faith, so all they could see was Jesus, and said He is the one you are to listen to now.  All the commandments, laws and traditions are fulfilled in My Son Jesus, it is simply about Him.

Holy Spirit, I ask you to reveal to me this morning what I am listening to besides Jesus.  What traditions, habits, personal preferences, religious activities or routines I have not obscured, but have actually placed in equal importance to Jesus.  What am I listening to other than “simply Jesus.”  Convict me Holy Spirit, convicted Your Church today as You convicted Your early Church saying, “you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent” (Revelation 2:4). Give me the courage to repent. Give me the strength to let go of and walk away from things I am clinging to and listening to, comfortable with, and simply return to listening to my first love, Jesus.

My family, I pray this morning you ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you those things that you are listening to that need to be obscured, and simply return to your first love, Jesus. Please pray the same for me.  God bless you my friends!
