Lord’s Jesus I spend this quiet time with you this morning seeking your presence to guide my thoughts and steps and directions throughout my day.
This past Friday was the 25th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 1, 2001. Friday night I watched the the Documentary “Daughters of 911” on CBS. It is now showing on Paramount+ and I recommend you watching it. It was a very interesting documentary. I did not realize that now, 25 years after the attacks, no one has ever been prosecuted for planning and committing the attacks.
Friday was the 25th anniversary of 9/11 terrorist attacks when four hijacked airplanes were intentionally crashed into the two Twin Towers in New York, the Pentagon, and another downed plane in a field in Pennsylvania.. The attacks took over 3,000 lives initially. Over another 3,000 people died from health issues after 911. The attacks impacted thousands more of family members, our country, and the world. The attacks changed and shattered forever the way we feel and look at the security or our country. We remember and pray over those families that lost loved ones in the tragedy. That day is etched in my mind. I remember hearing about the first plane crashing into the North tower over the radio while driving down the road. Then rushing home to see it on the TV and watch the second plane crash into the South tower and the collapse of both towers. The shock, horror, chaos, madness, anger… so many emotions were involved.. Again, that day forever changed our views and reality of the world we live in today. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy.
We also are reminded that nothing is guaranteed in this life. As God’s word tells us:
“Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that." But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin”. (Jam 4:13-17)
Sept. 11, 2001 was a beautiful day with blue shy. Those that died, were injured, lost husbands, wives, son’s and daughters, or affected by 911 were engaged in their normal day of business and making a profit, running errands, meeting with a friend, and in the middle of their normal morning routine when something unimaginable happened; the millions to one odds of a jet crashing into the buildings they were in. Today, with the wars in the Ukraine and Iran. The flood in Napal. Nothing is guaranteed today. All of today is a gift. Hug family members that are close to you. Call those who are at a distance. Be present in “today” and don’t delay in doing the next right thing.
My family, I join you in prayer today over all the lives that were lost and everyone impacted by the tragic events 25 years ago of 911. I also pray today you embrace the amazing gift of today. Don’t delay doing the next right thing: of telling someone you are sorry, you love them, you are glad they are in your life. Don’t delay sharing with someone who does not know and been set free by the love of Jesus who are just one event away from a Christless eternity. Please pray the same for me. I have been blessed by and love you all who God has allowed to cross my path in life and pray God’s blessing over you my friends!
